| Lata Berkoh cascades, a great picnic and swimming
area surrounded by inspiring natural landscapes. The boat trip up Sungai
Tahan to the cascades is one of the most scenic and photogenic in the
park. For these reason, it is a highly recommended experience for any
visitors. The trips takes about one hour and on sections of the return
journey the boatman may turn the motor off for the boat to glide
downstream. On various sections of the river the fern covered trees on either side meet to form sheltered avenue. Although the river has traveled some 50 kilometres from Gunung Tahan by the time it reaches the cascades, the waters are generally shallow. The rocky riverbed is suitable for paddling and wading in the cool clean waters. The waters here and in other isolated parts of the park have a slight clear tea coloring resulting from the natural decay of vegetation that falls into the river. The cascades mark the limit for navigation along the river. Here, the bubbling waters provide an invigorating natural spa bath and the riverbanks are popular for picnics and relaxation. There is a camping ground next to the river for those who want to stay overnight, and bookings should be made at the HQ. The alternative to the boat trip to the cascades is a hike of 9.5 kilometres or 3-5 hours (one way ). Adventurous walkers may want to explore the pools and rapids further upstream where there is a rudimentary trail to follow.

| Kelah Sanctuary-Fish Feeding is another interesting
place to visit at Sungai Tahan. The most accessible sanctuary is located
at Lubuk Tenor, 5 minutes boat ride to Lata Berkoh and Lubuk Melantai
which require further trekking for 1-2 hours from Lata Berkoh. This is a designated fish sanctuary area, especially for kelah species, so fishing is prohibited. A popular activity here is to watch the freshwater fish up close intheir natural habitat and to feed them most amazingly they can be summoned by ringing a bell.
